Children's Faith Formation (CFF)

A program for children, pre-school through Grade 5, the Faith Formation classes focus on the baptismal call to become followers of Jesus Christ. With an emphasis on Scripture and the traditions of the Catholic faith, students participate in the community's worship, prayer and service to others.

Parents, the first and best teachers in the faith, are supported by catechists working in partnership with them in the religious education of their children. Love of Christ and the Church, frequent reception of the sacraments, prayer, and service are encouraged as parents fulfill the obligation to their children in the promises made at baptism.

Parents, catechists and the faith community join together in passing on the faith of the church to the next generation.

Registration and Calendar

2010-11 Class Registration forms for all classes and sacramental preparation programs (Reconciliation and First Communion) may be downloaded and mailed to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27608, ATTN Office of Faith Formation.

Classes meet from September through May on Sunday mornings, 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.

Volunteer Opportunities

Adult volunteers are needed as catechists (teachers and co-teachers), substitute catechists, and assistants to help with planning, publicizing or arranging activities as well as providing refreshments or clerical assistance.

Children's Catechumenate

For children age 7 or older who have not been baptized, or have been baptized but have not received the sacrament of First Communion, we offer classes during the school year to prepare them for the sacraments. The Children’s Catechumenate meets on Sunday mornings from September through May, teaching an introduction to the Catholic Church, beliefs and practices, worship, prayer, and service.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)

Children ages 3-7 are called forward at the beginning of the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and then proceed to the Fallon Center Hall for their own special, age-appropriate liturgy. CLOW is led by parent volunteers who plan and present the weekly teachings.
